Fundraising Activities

Sankalpa generates finances through various fundraising activities at local level in US and invites proposals for sustainable, micro-developmental, and grassroots-level projects from India. Following are some fundraising activities Sankalpa has undertaken in the past:

Football Games: Most of the funds are raised through voluntary work at various events. The college football season “kicks off” fund raising activities for Sankalpa. We work at food stalls at the OSU stadium on game days and an amount proportional to the sales is credited to Sankalpa’s account. Working to raise money for a worthy cause, in the amazing stadium atmosphere is a unique experience! We also manage food stalls at commencement ceremonies at the end of each quarter.

Fund Raisers: Sankalpa regularly participates in local cultural festivals and community events to raise funds for developmental activities. Some of the fundraising events are Taste of OSU and International Festival. Sankalpa was awarded Best Educational Stall at columbus international festival in 2003 as well as 2005!

Friends of Sankalpa: This particular initiative focuses on networking with like-minded individuals who believe in Sankalpa’s activities and philosophy. Sankalpa raises funds through donations and pledges from ‘friends of Sankalpa’. In the past we have received pledges of $120 per annum. Download pledge form to make a donation.

Funding is provided for projects once Sankalpa members approve the proposal. Regular monitoring and feedback from the supported projects are requested to ensure progress and 100% utilization of Sankalpa funds. In addition, Sankalpa is a zero overhead organization and incurs no administrative expenses ±. Currently, there are no paid employees with Sankalpa; Sankalpees volunteer their time for various project related and administrative activities. Thus, Sankalpa ascertains that all funds are purely utilized for developmental activities in India. Besides funding developmental activities, Sankalpa also proactively collaborates on developing projects with partner social workers/ small non-profit groups at local level.

± Sankalpa US Chapter is registered as a student organization on the Ohio State University campus and receives $300 as operational funds from the University. These funds are utilized for administrative purposes like photocopying, printing, and mailings.
