Technology for the Poor: A Lecture by Dr. Job S. Ebenezer
Sankalpa is starting a lecture series, to create awareness about the living conditions and lack of technology in economically challenged sections of the world today. This series will also educate students about the efforts taken by several individuals and organizations around the globe in order to help poor and deprived people.

Our guest speaker is Professor Job S. Ebenezer, PhD. Professor Ebenezer is a local innovator who has developed simple and cheap technological solutions for communities in Asia and Africa. Some examples of his innovative work are:
- Standard Bicycle With Pedal Power Attachment
- Wind Energy For Earthkeepers
- Low-Cost Construction Techniques For Earth Keepers
- Urban Agriculture: A Guide to Container Gardens

During his lecture, Dr. Ebenezer will also bring an exhibit of his innovative technologies and will also conduct some live demonstrations that will involve active participation by the audience.

Winter Quarter MeetingMarch 6th, 2011
Aparna from AID-Columbus was our first guest speaker of the quarter. We had a great discussion with her about projects and proposal management process.
Shraddha Sankulkar attended the meeting from Mumbai via Skype - Sankalpa sets foot in the virtual meeting domain!

News From Second Winter Quarter MeetingFeb.6, 2011.
      Sankalpa congratulates Pooja Joshi, Gayatri Natu, Yukti Arora and Abhishek Kakkar on their appointment on the Sankalpa executive board.

Undergraduate Rep.: Abhishek Kakkar

The duties of the new officers are as below
1. Vice President: In the absence of the President, shall preside at all meetings of the Sankalpa and of the Executive Board. 
2. Project coordinator: Shall be chair of the Projects Committee. Duties are to scrutinize the incoming project proposals, assign reviewers, coordinate the proposal review process, establish contacts with the beneficiaries and ensure a proper correspondence, reporting and follow-up on projects during and after their implementation.
3.Communications Committee: Will be responsible for website content development, management and updates. Other duties involve management of web groups, advertising of sankalpa's events, activities and any additional duties assigned by the executive board. 
4. Undergraduate Representative: Primary duty is to be a liaison between Sankalpa and the undergraduate student community on-campus. Will help communicate sankalpa's message, encourage new membership, and help in planning and organization of events and activities.
 
 
News From First Winter Quarter MeetingJan. 23, 2011.
Thanks to all those who attended Sankalpa's First Wi-Quarter meeting.! This meeting marks a new beginning for Sankalpa..! We unanimously approved the long-awaited Constitutional Amendments and adapted new Bylaws today! Both documents will be available on Sankalpa website soon. Detailed meeting minutes are coming up. 
Some highlights: 
- Sankalpa Spring Retreat is being planned
- Republic day card is being designed by Abhishek Kakkar and Yukti Arora
- We'll soon be member of the FIA-Central Ohio.
- We are also a collaborator for Buckeye Mela Weekend
- Next meeting: Sunday, Feb. 6 @6:00pm. Primary agenda is: Review of more than 5-6 New Proposals.
   
Another successful fund-raiser! Sat. Nov. 13.
Three cheers for the Volunteer team from Nov. 13 fund-raiser during OSU Vs. Penn State game at the football stadium.! Great teamwork..!! We were able to raise a sum of more than $800 from this event. Next volunteer opportunity listed above.
